The History

Established in 2000, the vineyard sits 1100 feet above sea level on rolling hills embedded with the limestone and calcareous soils also seen inn Bordeaux and the Rhone Valley. With expansive views of Paso Robles beyond our 25 acres, half planted with seven varietals, our goal is to create wines that are memorable not only in taste but in the experiences they offer…whether it be at the vineyard or at home with your loved ones and friends. Because of that, Dresser Winery believes in providing a personal touch and engaging experience with our visitors as it sits as the cornerstone of the experience of Dresser Winery and Vineyards.

Kory and Catherine stumbled upon Paso Robles some years ago and found Paso Robles to not only be the ideal place to chase their dreams but to also plant roots and raise their family. After quickly falling in love with the almost Hallmark Channel-like town, they purchased their first property, 2-acres with a home needing Catherine’s architectural expertise in renovation and with 1.5 acres of Zinfandel ready for Kory to learn the intricacies of vineyard management and winemaking.  This vineyard, named Dudley Vineyard after the Burke’s beloved loyal pup, lent itself to be an amazing stepping stone into wine.  Then, after a chance meeting with another local winemaker and winery owner, they were introduced to Gelfand Vineyards and its previous owner who like Kory was led to wine out of passion.  After some cajoling and Kory’s willingness to do whatever needed to learn how to make wine, Kory began to work with him on the Gelfand Vineyard’s wines and the Burke’s Dudley Vineyard wines learning the art of making amazing full-bodied red wines synonymous with the previously known as Gelfand Vineyards.

In 2022, the Burke’s renamed the vineyard and winery Dresser Winery out of an homage to the name of the area called Dresser Ranch. The focus on Dresser Winery remains the same as it was previously…making wonderful full-bodied reds from estate grown grapes with some new varietals mixed in from some of Paso’s best vineyards. The Burke’s place a high priority as well on the experience at Dresser Winery with the hopes that guests walk away with a one-of-a-kind experience…both in the wine and the tasting experience.

The Vineyard

Situated 1100 feet above sea level on idyllic rolling hills for grape farming on  the east side of Paso Robles, Dresser Winery and Vineyard is located in a higher elevation but still just 15 minutes from downtown Paso Robles.  It features seven different varietals.  In 2000 four varietals were planted: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel.  In 2014 three new varietals were planted overlooking the barrel room and production zone: Tempranillo, Malbec and Sangiovese.

We believe the health of the vineyard is the driving force between our success in winemaking. Therefore there is a great importance placed on reinvigorating the soil with the natural nutrients needed in an effort to increase the health and vigor of each vine and work to reduce water needs.
